Samsun Galaxy Ace S5830 VS Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman
Good question you'd raised. I'm surprised someone out there has asked this question, as people are far too exposed to the over-rated Galaxy Ace, but not the unpopular Live Walkman as much. The Live Walkman is actually better overall.
Let me take you through everything; their performance, specs and built quality. Basically I'll tell you why the Live Walkman is better, more in depth.
Battery Life:
The Walkman Live, being a 'Green-Heart' labelled Sony, is supposed to eco-friendly. I can definitely say it has better battery life than most Android phones, and over the Ace. It will last you a whole day with regular use, which is pretty good. However, saying that, the Ace isn't bad either with battery life, it's pretty decent if turned on the right settings. Just ensure you turn on 2G connection whenever you don't use internet and keep the screen brightness at the lowest you can. Always avoid animated backgrounds, especially with Androids.
Screen Display:
The Walkman Live holds a vibrant 16 million colour display, just like the Galaxy Ace. However, the Walkman Live wins over the Ace with a sharper display at 180 ppi (pixels per inch). Whereas the Ace has a mere 165 ppi. The screen of the Ace is brighter at its brightest however, compared to the Sony Ericsson, but that doesn't count, since the Walkman Live doesn't eat battery like the Ace. The only advantage the Ace has is the bigger screen at 3.5 inches, unlike the 3.2 inches on the Walkman Live, which is still decently big for a smartphone, if not among all these gigantic Androids.
Camera & Video
Both phones hold a 5 mp camera with flash. However, the Walkman Live is made the winner, again, having a HD (720p) video recorder, whereas the Ace has a poor standard VGA video recorder. The Walkman Live also has a additional VGA front-facing camera, unlike the Ace.
CPU rate
The Ace has a good 800 Mhz processor which still handles its perfomance well, fast & smooth. However, the Walkman Live, does it all better with a powerful 1 Ghz processor.
Android System
Both hold a 2.3 Android system, therefore I would say they are equal on that. However, the Walkman Live is more customizable, which is fun on its own. It also offers more themes and wallpapers as default. However, the Ace still offers a range of wallpapers and is still nicely customizable.
Music/Radio
The Walkman Live, again, is better because it is much louder. The Ace in fact, is quiet and not very loud even at its loudest. The Walkman Live has dual-speakers on its back and can be very loud. It has the xLOUD feature for you to switch on or off somewhere in the settings. The Sound quality, I admit, is equally good on of both. However, the ericsson is still the winner, for being louder and offering more equalising settings.
Built quality
Both phones are sturdy. However, Samsungs being better off as a company, offer the Ace a more premium built quality. The Ace has a corning gorilla glass, which is basically hard, scratch & shatter resistant to any accidents. The Walkman Live on the other hand, feels a bit more plastic, although it still offers a hard & scratch resistant screen. The Ace is the winner when it comes to built quality.
Hope it gave a better insight of the two. Good luck with choosing.
