buy refurbished electronics, or not
We want to save money, but at the same time we're afraid of getting burned. Are buying refurbished computers, TVs, stereos, mobile devices safe? Some say it's a great steal, and they're as good as new, but what do you think? Too risky? Tell us!

Refurbished electronics should be as good as,
if not better than, any that are new-in-the-box.
Refurbs are often simply unwanted returned items that work properly.
Others are defectives that have been repaired
and should last as long as "new" items.
To answer this question, I'm using a "refurbed" HP Compaq
NC6220 laptop that was purchased from Overstock in 2009.
So far, it seems to be working OK.
The best reason to buy "new" rather than refurbed
would be that the item is a gift for someone else.
Otherwise, it shouldn't matter.
Keep in mind that there is a big difference between
refurbished and "out of box" / "open box" items.

No,because it wastes your money and it is used. But it may be working well.I had a refurbished iPod Touch 4th Generation, and it didn't work well. So,we traded for a new one at Apple.

Personally, I NEVER buy used items. When I was younger, I would always buy used games, but half the time they were somehow broken or wouldn't work. From that point on, I've always bought brand new items. Sure it's a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I do so frequently, but only from a store that offers a warranty, even if I have to pay extra for the warranty. In Ontario, one of the best store for this is called Factory Direct. On the other hand, I find exceptional prices on new items at Canada Computers. Good luck.

Yes. It is a matter of luck, but most of time it is safe to buy refurbished electronics.

for me it is just OK as long as warranty covers replacement of the unit for free and at the same time price is much much lesser than the brand new.
